Dear Frontier Schools Families,
In February, I shared the challenges we had been facing with our current transportation provider. Today, I am writing to update you on a significant development for the upcoming school year, as well as an urgent matter that needs attention this school year.
Exciting News: Our school board has approved a substantial enhancement to our transportation services. Starting the 2024-25 school year, we will own and operate our own fleet of school buses. This initiative, which involves the purchase of 25 brand-new school buses at a cost of approximately $3.6 million, is a significant step towards providing dependable, high-quality transportation for all our students. With this new system, we can ensure timely and safe transportation, and the real-time bus tracking software will keep you updated about your children's bus schedules and locations, enhancing the safety and convenience of our transportation services.
Urgent Update: Unfortunately, our current provider has informed us they cannot fulfill their contract for the remainder of the school year due to internal financial issues. We've managed to lease 8 buses to cover some routes, but this will not be sufficient for all our needs. Thus, we are facing challenges in providing full transportation services for the last four weeks of the school year and ask for your patience and assistance.
Immediate Transportation Plan for the Rest of the School Year:
April 29th and 30th: We will operate limited service. Specific routes will be temporarily canceled; these will be announced shortly. If possible, please make alternative transportation arrangements for your children on these days.
May 1st to May 22nd: The new bus routes will be in effect for the remainder of the school year. Today, April 28th, you will receive a transportation request form via PowerSchool. Please login to PowerSchool, select "Forms" from the left menu, and access the "Transportation Request Form for May 1 – May 22". Complete this for each of your children by April 29th at 12 p.m. If you are able to provide transportation for your child, please select “No”. Select “Yes” and verify your address and email information if you require our services. The new routes may be longer than usual; we highly encourage parents who can transport their children. If you're unable to access PowerSchool, contact your school’s front office on Monday morning. Responses are crucial for efficient route planning. If you do not respond by the deadline, we will assume transportation is not required for your child.

En febrero, compartí los desafíos que hemos estado enfrentando con nuestro proveedor actual de transporte. Hoy, escribo para actualizarlos sobre un desarrollo significativo para el próximo año escolar, así como un asunto urgente que necesita atención este año escolar.
Noticias emocionantes: Nuestro consejo escolar ha aprobado una mejora sustancial a nuestros servicios de transporte. A partir del año escolar 2024-25, poseeremos y operaremos nuestra propia flota de autobuses escolares. Esta iniciativa, que involucra la compra de 25 autobuses escolares completamente nuevos por un costo aproximado de $3.6 millones, es un paso significativo hacia la provisión de transporte confiable y de alta calidad para todos nuestros estudiantes. Plan de transporte inmediato para el resto del año escolar:

1 de mayo al 22 de mayo: Las nuevas rutas de autobús estarán en efecto por el resto del año escolar. Hoy, 28 de abril, recibirán un formulario de solicitud de transporte a través de PowerSchool. Por favor, inicien sesión en PowerSchool, seleccionen "Formularios" en el menú izquierdo y accedan al "Formulario de Solicitud de Transporte para el 1 de mayo – 22 de mayo". Completen esto para cada uno de sus hijos antes del 29 de abril a las 12 p.m. Si pueden proporcionar transporte para su hijo, por favor seleccionen “No”. Seleccionen “Sí” y verifiquen su dirección e información de correo electrónico si requieren nuestros servicios. Las nuevas rutas pueden ser más largas de lo habitual; alentamos encarecidamente a los padres que puedan transportar a sus hijos. Si no pueden acceder a PowerSchool, contacten la oficina principal de su escuela el lunes por la mañana. Las respuestas son cruciales para la planificación eficiente de las rutas. Si no responden antes de la fecha límite, asumiremos que no se requiere transporte para su hijo.
