On August 21st, Evergy partnered with us to install 1–2 beehive boxes near our new greenhouse located at Central Office! These exciting additions will create unique hands-on learning opportunities for students, helping them see how classroom lessons connect to the real world.
The greenhouse will give students the chance to explore plant growth, sustainability, and food systems, while the beehive nests will highlight the vital role pollinators play in our environment. Together, they provide powerful tools to enrich science, ecology, and environmental studies.
And don’t worry—these are solitary bees, a non-aggressive species that poses no threat to people near the nesting boxes. Students and staff can safely observe and learn from them without concern.
With the new greenhouse and beehive nests, our district is buzzing with opportunities for discovery, curiosity, and real-world connections in learning.
