Frontier Schools is pleased to announce that Saint Louis University (SLU), our charter sponsor, has formally submitted a charter application to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Missouri State Board of Education for the establishment of a new Frontier Schools campus in the City of Columbia.
The proposed school is a mission-driven, STEM-focused public charter school designed to serve approximately 184 students in grades Pre-K through 2. Pending approval, the school seeks to open in either the 2026–2027 or 2027–2028 school year.
This new initiative builds on Frontier Schools’ longstanding commitment to providing high-quality public education through high expectations, hands-on learning, and strong college and career readiness programming. Frontier Schools currently serves students in Kansas City and is excited about the opportunity to bring our proven model to families in Columbia.
Saint Louis University has expressed full confidence in Frontier Schools’ leadership, governance, and educational approach, and has affirmed that the application meets all requirements under Missouri statutes (RSMo 160.400 to 160.425 and 167.349).
